2015 Ford F150

The all new 2015 Ford F150 was recently revealed at the Detroit Auto Show. About a year ago Ford revealed the Ford Atlas Concept Truck with many new and innovative features and technology. Many of those features have been engineered into the 2015 Ford F150. The new F150 is a bold new truck that is tougher, smarter and more capable than ever.

The F-Series trucks continue to be the Best Selling Trucks in America for 37 years running. You can’t be the truck leader by sitting around and coasting on the past accomplishments. The only way to stay on top is to continue to innovate and take truck performance, dependability, capability and durability to new heights. The 2015 F150 is pushing the threshold of ordinary in every way striving to build a better truck for everyone.

Truck Toughness

The engineers at Ford found that they could increase the frame strength and shave off a few pounds by using more high strength steel in the frame. They also utilized high strength, military grade, aluminum alloy body panels to save another 600 lbs or so. The stronger but lighter frame and body allows for increased towing and hauling capabilities as well as better efficiency.

The new F150 is tested tough with thousands of hours of torture testing and more than 10 million miles of lab testing. Before the new truck goes into production the F150 will face additional testing pulling trailers and hauling loads across the country. These road tests will traverse mountains, deserts and endure temperatures from 20 degrees below zero to 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

The new truck was disguised as a 2014 model and entered into the 2013 Baja 1000. The disguised new F150 was equipped with the all new 2.7 Liter EcoBoost® engine. The only non stock modifications to the truck were racing shocks, modified springs and a 44 gallon fuel tank. During the 883 mile course replacing the air filter at fuel stops was the only maintenance needed.

Smart Truck Features

The 2015 Ford F150 will offer several new technologies and segment firsts that increases the trucks capabilities, safety, comfort and convenience. Every aspect of driving and using a truck were considered as the engineers developed a smarter more capable truck. From LED headlamps to cargo configurability and lighting the new F150 is loaded with innovations.

The all new Ford Truck offers improved visibility from all angles. The new 360-degree camera system offers a view of all four sides of the truck with cameras mounted in the grille, tailgate and under the side view mirrors. The camera setup provides an overhead view of the trucks surroundings.

The 2015 F150 makes use of energy efficient LED lighting for the interior and exterior of the truck. These new lights produce a brighter light and better durability than the old lighting. A segment first for the truck market are the LED headlamps offering increased visibility and longer life. The truck bed also features LED lights as well as LED spotlights on the side view mirrors.

When it comes to driving safety and convenience the 2015 Ford F150 is available with smart driver assistance technologies. Available on a truck for the first time are lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control and a collision mitigation system.

The F150 has always been a trusted work companion and the new F150 with smart cargo solutions will make getting things done even easier. Besides the new LED box lighting the new truck features a redesigned tailgate step for easy access to the bed. Loading ATVs, bikes and mowers just got easier with BoxLink™ system and stowable cargo ramps. The new ramps quickly and easily mount on the tailgate providing quick and easy loading.
